இன்னாமை இன்பம் எனக்கொளின் ஆகுந்தன்ஒன்னார் விழையுஞ் சிறப்பு.

Who pain as pleasure takes, he shall acquireThe bliss to which his foes in vain aspire

எளிய பொருள்

ஒருவன் துன்பத்தையே தனக்கு இன்பமாகக் கருதிக்கொள்வானானால் அவனுடைய பகைவரும் விரும்பத்தக்க சிறப்பு உண்டாகும்.

The elevation, which even his enemies will esteem, will be gained by him, who regards pain as pleasure.
